Project Overview
Sealevel successfully completed the Bonnabel Canal Improvements project in Metairie, La ahead of schedule in just 19 days. Our team performed the press-in installation of steel sheet piles along the canal bank, supporting critical infrastructure and erosion control improvements for the surrounding area. The scope of work included:
• Installation of 1,520 wall feet of 36’ AZ26-700 steel sheet piles along the Bonnabel Canal
• Utilization of a Giken Silent Piler F401-1400 to install sheets along the toe of the existing canal bank
• Mobilization of a 165-ton truck crane on the north end to offload and assemble the silent piler on previously installed sheets
• Coordination with the General Contractor to move AZ26-700 sheet piles from the north staging area to the installation area
• Use of a 35-ton Tadano Mantis crane to lift and position sheets into the chuck of the silent piler
• Installation of radius sheets at the southern end to accommodate a tight radius and drastic elevation change
• Encounter and management of existing erosion control and stabilizing structures, including vinyl, steel, and timber bulkheads
• Removal of steel and timber bulkheads by the General Contractor
• Vinyl sheets were broken off at ground surface, allowing new steel sheets to be pressed through
